January 11, 3:00-5:00pm
Venue Kathleen Clay Edwards Family Branch
Writing to Welcome the Unknown
A new calendar year opens in the middle of winter, when the natural world seems asleep. We often consider (or scorn) new year’s resolutions—how we can improve ourselves or do better in our lives. We may spend time with our regrets, wanting do-overs or makeovers for ourselves or others, imagining a future that may never come to pass. Or we may hunker down into what is familiar; the very uncertainty of the unknown makes us nervous. In this workshop for all genres we will explore through our senses being in moment-to-moment awareness and surprise ourselves by writing from and toward something new—a new voice, a new point of view, a new use of language, a new imagining.
** PLEASE NOTE **
This event is open to the general public.

Debra Kaufman is a phenomenal writer and teacher, and we’re lucky to have her coming over from the Triangle to spend a couple of hours with us, reading and exploring a few pieces to get conversation and creative juices flowing, and then begin writing exercises.
